[Kitty is walking down one of the halls of the Tourist toward Winn's room when she catches sight of someone familiar. She's holding a flower folded out of paper. It looks like it was crumpled a little along the way and folded in some of the wrong places before she attempted to smooth it back out. Still, it's fairly recognizable as a flower.]
Chekov, hey. [She wasn't planning to see him, but that doesn't mean it's unpleasant. She's never quite sure how she's supposed to act now to make things easier for him. Maybe there's just no achieving that.] Visiting Kirk?
[He wasn't exactly planning on seeing her while nosing around his new ship, either. A week hasn't done much to make Kitty's missing memories and current relationship less painful (if anything, he's been making himself more miserable by dwelling on them and thinking about how shocked she had been when he'd told her they were together--as if that's so unthinkable?), but he's glad to see her. Sort of. No, yes, he is, even if it hurts.]
It takes Chekov a couple of moments to respond since he was doing some sleeping himself. Things have been crazy; first the evacuations, then there was plenty to do on the space station after the meteor hit the planet. He's been doing a lot of napping since the fleet started drifting again.
BUT HE'S AWAKE NOW.]
Kitty! Yes, I'm here--or on the Tourist if that is not what you meant by "here." How long have you been awake? Are you still on your ship?
[It's tense until she hears his voice which comes with a flood of relief.] Yes, I meant any "here" that's accessible by shuttle or comm.
Long enough to know I've been asleep for awhile. Not long enough to know what I missed. [She just shifts the view of the screen so he can see more of her room in the shot.]
I'm glad I didn't have to use my "or else" on you.
The video wasn't intentional. [Should she elaborate which video or just assume he knows it's the one where she and Vash were kissing on his birthday? After all it was around that time she started hearing less from Pavel and definitely seeing him less and at first she didn't even fully notice. People's schedules change. They get busy, distracted. Who knows, he could have even been having a lot of fun. And maybe all those or at least one of those is true and this is going to be awkward and embarrassing. She thought about just reaching out to see if he wants to do something. In fact, she decided that's how she'd handle it. Except then she blurted out the thing about the elephant in the shuttle. The elephant is in a shuttle and not a room now. Deal with it. Space!]
[Isn't Pavel the one who addresses elephants without sufficient lead-up? Don't come for his gig!
Even though some time has elapsed between then and now, he knows which video she's talking about... unless there's some other video that he didn't see? But no, surely he would've heard gossip about anything more scandalous than that.]
The one from last month? I didn't think that it was.
[Pavel has been going to Kitty considerably less, but not because he thought the video was intentional.]
Yeah... That one. [Probably. It wasn't even her post but she didn't post a month ago either, so... This didn't magically fix everything did it? She shouldn't have tried to claim his gig. His gig sucks.]
Well, good. I mean, not that it looked intentional or anything. But... [Words. words. words.] Good.
[ This is, he knows, probably overdue, but this isn't the sort of thing he excels at. Social grace kind of went out the window with civilization, which was a relief to Daryl, who really never had any.
But he's trying to do a little better, because what the hell else is he going to do?
He raps on Chekov's door, quietly enough that it won't echo. ]
[ Generally he tries not to be rude to his shipmates, but he's not really in the habit of visiting. More, like, he will nod at them when they pass in the hallway. This is how socialization works for him.
He holds up the bottle of whiskey, which is a good bit emptier than when Pavel dropped it off, but still has a bit left. ]
Seemed kinda rude to kill it myself.
[ So he's bringing it back, or at least offering to share. Drinking together is the kind of socialization he does know how to do. ]
