[It doesn't take a space-future genius to trace this... or to recognize Pai's voice. Chekov doesn't know if this is funny or awkward.

That probably depends on whether or not Hei decides to kill him for corrupting his baby sister.]

[He sounds slightly exasperated. This has just as much to do with lingering concerns dredged up by the weekend's curse as with a fear of assassination.]

This depends. [He doesn't want to be dismembered, Pai. How is this confusing.]

Why? [She is actually grinning with mischief -- a rare sight, but unfortunately for Chekov, he's missing it. Ah, audio calls.]

[Now he's just curious. Pai isn't stupid; she knows that Hei likely won't take it kindly if anyone flirts with her. Is she trying to get him killed?]

[Please. Hei wouldn't kill you, Chekov -- not when he knows full well that Pai is the evil mastermind behind all of this. But of course, Chekov doesn't know that, and Pai knows he doesn't know that. That's what makes it fun.]

[If Pavel believed in God, he would be asking Him why these things happen to him.]

I think that worrying is reasonable. He tolerates me; I am not always certain that he likes me enough to not murder me.

But you can't die here. [At least, not in a meaningful fashion. Why be scared of death?]

That does not make dying more pleasant.

[Well, a hang up about dying makes sense when it actually has consequence. But here? Not so much.]
